This afternoon, Cade and I were having a snack. He was sitting on the floor a few feet from me. I asked him if he wanted a cracker. He shook his head no. This does not always mean no but he's starting to get the connection. But, then he crawled over to me, stood up next to my chair and looked at me and said "cack-ah". I was in awe and gave him a cracker. Of course, he wouldn't repeat saying cracker but it was fun to hear it the first time.
He's also working on repeating sounds that we make. We were telling him that Belle says meow. Then we heard him say "maaow". I guess Sean and I will need to start watching what we say since we have a little copycat in our midst.
Yesterday, the PT from the schools came for a visit. Cade warmed up right away and we had a great time. She was happy to see Cade's progress and said that he's right on track. I talked to her about our NICU follow-up clinic experience and her response was "but they just don't know Cade". She felt that the assessment of 8 months for cognitive development was way off because it was based on such a small snapshot of time. Based on her time spent with him and his fine motor skills, she would say that he is on track cognitively.
Today, Cade had his 15 month check-up and all went well there too. I won't go over his stats again since I just posted those last week. His pediatrician said that there are still no big concerns and Cade seems to be on the normal developmental path.
