Passed the test

Today we got the results from our screening test for neural tube defects and it came back negative. Basically, they took only enough blood for one of the components of my blood instead of the entire quad screen since our first trimester screen covered the other birth defects. Sean and I are excited that baby seems to be healthy. I am still having round ligament pain and at times it can totally catch me off guard. Hopefully, baby is making enough room :) I do think that I feel some moving around like little flutters. It seems to be on one side more than the other so maybe he/she has a twitch ;)

Week 17

Well, it's been a couple of weeks since I wrote any updates. Life has been busy. This past Friday we had our 16 week appt and finally actually heard the baby's heartbeat. It was pretty cool. Previously, we had just seen the heart beat on the ultrasound monitor. It was nice to hear that steady beat. The doctor said that everything sounded good and that I was looking good. I've gained 8 lbs so far which is in the average range. I'm still not showing very much. My muscles are still fighting the growth which just means that there's alot of muscle aches and pain low in my belly. My friend Amy is pregnant with her 2nd and due within a week of me. Her muscles have already given up the fight since they were previously stretched. Everything is going well with her too. Other baby news: We ordered a crib and it is now sitting at JCP waiting for us but we have to clean out baby's room before we go pick it up. We also bought a rocker/recliner for the baby's room and can pick that up soon. The preparations have begun.

One Year......

Today, marks the one year anniversary of Sean's and my first date. It was a 12 hour date that led to a crazy, busy, amazing, unbelievable year. I'm starting this blog to catch up on a little on history and to track the exciting begininnings that are still to come for us. So, here's a quick synopsis of our relationship so far:

Sean wanted to get a puppy and asked my advice. This gave us a reason to really talk after a few years of making small talk at work. He got the puppy (Lucy) and then asked me out. Here's a picture of Lucy and Sophie (my dog) with their special Christmas collars.

After dating a few months, I had to go to Thailand for work and Sean decided to meet me there. I think it was during this trip that both of us really decided that we would be together forever. No pictures of us together in Thailand unfortunately because Sean was having fun and I was working :).
We were engaged on June 14th. Here's our engagement picture with the dogs.

We were married on September 8th in my hometown of Proctor. It was a fun day and the wedding was beautiful.

Then we went on our honeymoon to Italy for almost 2 weeks. We visited Rome, Venice, Florence and Cinque Terre.

Once we got home, we moved all of my stuff into Sean's house which is now our home. Consolidating households was not easy but well worth the effort.

In November, we learned that we would be parents in August! We are so looking forward to this major change in our lives. I was blessed to not be sick at all during the 1st trimester and now I am into the 2nd. We have seen little Baby B in 3 different ultrasounds now. The last one that we had done was a couple of weeks ago for a 1st trimester screen for Down's syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities. On Friday, we got the test results back that everything is normal. It was a huge relief.

Today we've been together a year and neither of us could imagine life without each other.
