Kid's weekend

I haven't posted in awhile. Easter weekend was fun. We stayed at my parents and saw all of our Proctor friends on Sat night.
Then this weekend I called the kid's weekend because both days we spent time with some of the kids that are close to us. On Fri, I had lunch with Ben and Amy. Ben is 6 and expecting a new brother/sister within a week of when we are expecting our baby boy. Ben said that if I was having a boy that I should name him Dan. He also told his mom this same thing and was sorely disappointed when I had to tell him that the baby's name would not be Dan. Amy will not be naming her unborn child Dan either. Poor Ben. Oh well, I'm sure he will love the new babies anyway.
On Friday night, Sean felt our little one move for the first time. It was pretty exciting because every time he would try the baby would stop moving but I think now that he's bigger and stronger it's easier to feel him "outside". I feel him all the time when I'm sitting down. I think he's still as active as he was during the ultrasound.
On Sat, we went to see my cousin Erin, her husband Jim and their 2 kids Noah (3) and Eleanor (almost 9 months). Noah loves his baby sister and also loved playing with Sean. Sean chased him around the house and played the Memory game with him. But, Sean cheated! (unintentionally) Sean is the favorite playmate of Ben too. It's so much fun to watch him play with the little boys in our life. I got a chance to hang out with Ellie and she's such a good baby. She's looking more and more like Erin which is great because Noah looks so much like Jim. Erin is letting me borrow some of her maternity clothes which is great because I shouldn't have to buy as much summer stuff.
Yesterday, we finally went to see my friend Kristie's new baby, Brooke (6 weeks) and her big sister Ashley (3 1/2). Brooke is adorable and Sean looked very good holding her while she was sleeping. Once she started fussing a little he handed her back to me and she burped the loudest burp I've ever heard out of a baby. I guess that was why she was fussy! Ashley also had fun playing with Sean and she was talking non-stop. Most of the words we understood but some we had to guess. Ashley really loves her little sister and was so cute when she was holding her.
All in all, it was a really great weekend.

The BIG Ultrasound

Today we had our 20 week ultrasound and it was so amazing. Baby B is a very active baby. I was worried that he baby would be sleeping since it was early in the morning but there was definitely no sleeping. The u/s tech measured all kinds of stuff and checked that everything was "normal". She measured the skull diameter, circumference and looked at the brain. Then she measured the humerus (arm bone) length and the femur (leg bone) length. She also measured the circumference of the abdomen. Baby waved at us with all 5 fingers. She said that was a good sign because babies with downs will clench their fist. Then, she tried to get a good look at the heart but baby was squirming so it was tough to get a clear picture but then all of a sudden we saw all four chambers beating really fast. We also saw the stomach, bladder and the lungs. It was just so good to know that everything looked healthy. She also told us that the average weight of the baby at 20 weeks is 11-13 oz and Baby B weighs 13 oz. Already a little chunky like mom and dad :) Then, she said that she would look to see if baby B was a girl or boy. She got a quick look then baby moved again so she had to search again to show us. Baby B is all BOY. Sean and I are happy to know but we are most excited that everything is looks good and he is healthy. Here's some pictures of our baby boy.

After the ultrasound was complete, we met with the doctor and he said that everything was average and now is when you want everything to be average :) Also, in the last 4 weeks, I haven't gained any weight but the doc was OK with that too. He said he would rather see me gain less weight in the first half and more in the second half. If he's OK, then I'm OK.

20 weeks

Well, we have officially made it to the halfway mark. Actually we are a little over but I didn't get a chance to post anything because we went out of town for the weekend. We went up to Chisholm to see Sean's dad (Phil), grandpa and grandma and celebrate Phil's birthday. It was a very nice weekend. My belly is getting bigger and even Grandpa commented that I'm starting to show :) We are praying that Grandpa is still with us when baby B arrives. He is in the nursing home recovering from a stroke. He was doing pretty well this weekend but has had some bad days over the last couple of weeks. Other fun news, I found out that my mom had a dream that the baby is a girl. Hopefully tomorrow we will find out. I think everyone is excited to know boy or girl but the most important thing is that s/he is healthy. Looking forward to seeing the little peanut again. S/he should weigh about 10.5 oz already and be about 10 inches long. This afternoon the little one has been pretty active. I just wish I knew what was going on in there.

Week 19

Well, I'm into week 19 already. Almost 1/2 way there. There's not much to report. I got another cold last week (that's 2 in the last month) and spent alot of time at home resting. Sean and the dogs took good care of me. Both dogs and the cat like having me home especially when I nap with them :) We went shopping for more maternity clothes on Sat. I needed to find something other than jeans to wear for Easter. I did find a nice pair of pants at Gap and a sweater from Old Navy but my plan of limiting the maternity clothes budget has gone a little by the wayside. The good news is I shouldn't have to buy any more stuff until the summer. I still haven't "popped" yet but a couple of days ago Sean commented that my baby bump is showing more. I think it depends on what I'm wearing but my middle is definitely round. What little bit of a waist I did have is long gone. And I continue to have round ligament pain which means baby is making more room. This weekend was particularly bad. Every move felt like I was pulling a muscle. I think the muscles were more sensitive because I had been coughing so much.
We are now in the countdown until the ultrasound on the 18th. Both Sean and I (and some other family members) are looking forward to seeing if Baby B is a boy or girl. Aunt Marcy had a dream this weekend that baby was a boy. Both Sean and I have also had dreams that it's a boy. Sean said that means it's a girl. Hopefully, the little peanut will cooperate and we will know in 8 days.

Baby B has a room

This weekend has been more relaxing than the last one. On Saturday, Marcy and I went shopping for some maternity jeans and also picked up the crib at JCP. Marcy and Sean moved the futon downstairs and got the crib into the house. Earlier in the week, we picked up the rocker/recliner. So, today we assembled the crib. It took about an hour and a half and only a little bickering. But, it turned out really well and the color actually matches Sean's dresser that we plan on using. Here's some pictures:
